I am Havilah Bookman
Hello and welcome! I'm Havilah Bookman and I am a birth doula serving the Snohomish, Skagit, and north King counties
My path to supporting families began as a midwife intern 5 years ago, where I witnessed firsthand the incredible strength and wisdom of the human body. I had the opportunity to work alongside birth workers as we supported and empowered women to bring their little one into their arms. As I switched from the internship to delve into the world of doula work, I immediately fell in love with the pregnancy and birth journey and the bond that is built between a mother and her support team.
A little about me, I am a lover of pretty much any outdoor activity. I love hiking, backpacking, kayaking, spontaneous road trips, or just curling up with a fuzzy blanket and good book, I got my love of birth from being raised on a small farm in Colorado assisting the goats, sheep and cats.

My Philosophy
I firmly believe that your birth space is sacred, and it is such an honor to be welcomed into it with you. My goal is to provide you with comfort, support, and guidance. I am here to listen, guide, and empower you to make informed choices that are best for you and your baby. I firmly believe that every birth story is unique and should be treated with reverence. My approach to doula work is rooted in empowerment, education, and advocacy. I see my role as being your companion on your birthing journey, providing unwavering support and personalized guidance while respecting your choices and preferences.

Havilah is a kind, caring, and calming presence at a time that does not always feel so calm. She was recommended to us by a friend and from our first meeting when she came to our house, I knew she was our person. She laughed at our jokes and loved on our wild puppy and came with great questions and knowledge to help us make educated decisions as we planned the birth we wanted for our little one. Our goal was to have an unmedicated hospital birth and I believe her guidance helped me have the birth I wanted. Even when there were unforeseen complications, she was there and provided support where able and helped me process and ask questions after birth to make sure I was educated in the decisions I was making and that they ultimately aligned with my goals. She continued to check in postpartum, making sure baby, husband, puppy, and I were doing well and adjusting, and then she came to the house to visit and we got to process the birth and everything that happened which was so helpful as it was so challenging in the moment. I am so grateful to her for her incredible support, and I would absolutely recommend her to anyone looking for a doula.
